Fengshui - Philosophy in brief
Fengshui is believed to be 4000 years old. Some authorities believe it came into existence around 400AD. Fengshui means wind and water. For chinese all the universal life forces is CHI, they believe that wind and water are the mediums through which CHI flows.
YIN, YANG & CHI
According to Fengshui the Universe is made up of two types of forces Yin and Yang. Yin is the female essence of the Universal force and Yang is the male. When these two interact the Universal life force CHI is liberated. See the following figure.
Chi is the force, which can bestow health, happiness and prosperity. If it enters the building in abundance and moves in coiling movements then it lingers inside the building. It is this lingering CHI - Chi, which gets you all you want.
Same CHI can turn harmful or become stagnant depending on the way a building is built and the way the outside Chi enters. It is this harmful Chi, which is responsible for disease, financial problems and unhappiness.
Hence the objective of Fengshui is to get a beneficial chi inside the building and allow it to move slowly so that it can enrich all parts of the building.
